- Substack article: `https://womenscoalition.substack.com/p/police-hot-on-heels-of-fleeing-mom`

The Substack article names a mother, child and an alleged family-court judge and makes strong claims about sexual-abuse allegations, family-court conduct, conflicts and police motives. NewsForBC preserves the lead for source-trail purposes but does **not** treat those allegations as proven.

## Verified from official/media source trail

- Alberta RCMP said an Amber Alert was issued after 6-year-old Lanakai Morrison was taken from Valhalla Centre near Beaverlodge, Alberta, on July 7, 2026.
- RCMP named Krista Morrison as the child's biological mother and said Daniel Ludwig and another child may be with them.
- RCMP update #2 said there was a July 8 morning sighting in Fort St. John, British Columbia, and that RCMP were working with B.C. police partners.
- Alberta Emergency Alert CAP page records an Amber Alert issued July 8 and cancelled July 10 at 15:15.
- Vancouver Sun/Postmedia reported the Amber Alert was cancelled in Alberta and B.C. while the child was still missing, and quoted an RCMP explanation that there was no reasonable expectation the public in Alberta could action the alert instructions.

## Not verified by NewsForBC

- NewsForBC did not obtain a public family-court order, transcript, application, custody judgment, or file number.
- NewsForBC did not verify the Substack's allegations about abuse, motives, conflict, judicial reasoning or police motives.
- NewsForBC could not locate an official public biography/roster page confirming the named judge's role in this specific matter. The social/advocacy article uses both Sirha/Sihra spellings in places; the visible image/text names Judge/Justice Jasmine Sihra.
- NewsForBC does not publish private addresses, images of minors from the social posts, or explicit alleged abuse details from the advocacy article.

## Editorial handling

The NewsForBC article should separate: (1) official Amber Alert/missing-person record; (2) B.C. sighting/alert extension; (3) public advocacy claims; (4) family-court/judge claims requiring court records; and (5) public-interest questions about Amber Alert criteria, privacy and source transparency.
